East Meets West

ROGER East will take charge of Argyle's match with Torquay United on Tuesday night.

He has refereed Argyle on ten previous occasions - and we haven't lost any of them. The five draws and five wins included the 4-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday in 2008 and the pulsating 3-2 win over Bristol Rovers on Boxing Day 2011.

The Wiltshire official was also the referee for the encounter at Plainmoor between Torquay and Argyle last September, which ended in a 0-0 draw. On that occasion, Mr East cautioned Durrell Berry and Conor Hourihane for Argyle, with Nathan Craig and Rene Howe going in the book for Torquay.

The last time Mr East refereed Argyle was the 1-1 draw with Oxford United in last season's Johnstone's Paint Trophy; a game Oxford would go to win on penalties. In that game, Mr East dismissed Durrell Berry for two cautions.

Coincidentally, the last time he took charge of a Torquay fixture he also dismissed a full back, as he sent off Torquay's Tom Cruise. It was the last time he sent a player off, sixteen games ago.

Mr East is yet to officiate a game in Sky Bet League 2 this season. He has been in the middle for nine games in other competitions, including two Premier League fixtures.
