Simon Takes Charge

SIMON Hooper will be the man in the middle for Saturday's Sky Bet League 2 clash with Wycombe Wanderers.

An established Football League referee, Simon has officiated in five games so far this season, showing 18 yellow cards and awarding one penalty.

Saturday's match will mark his first League 2 fixture of the season.

Simon had taken charge of six previous Argyle games, all of which have taken place at Home Park.

His last visit was for the opening day of the 2012-13 season, when the Pilgrims were dealt a 2-0 defeat by Aldershot Town.

That day, he showed three yellow cards; to Argyle Darren Purse and Paul Wotton and to the Shots' Josh Payne. He also awarded a penalty, from which Payne scored his side's second goal.

Hooper was also in charge of our incredible 3-3 FA Cup first round draw with Stourbridge in November 2011.

Famously, with the score at 2-2, he not only awarded a penalty to the Glassboys but he also dismissed Robbie Williams for denying a goalscoring opportunity.

Then, with the game at 3-3 and heading for an ill-fated replay, he showed Conor Hourihane a second yellow card to leave the Pilgrims with just nine men.

In fact, Argyle have won just one of the games that Hooper has overseen; a 4-1 win victory over Reading in December 2009.
