Argyle Corporate Cup

WE are throwing open the gates of Home Park and inviting fans to participate in the first official Argyle Corporate Cup.

The event – on Friday May 9, 2014 – is open to all: businesses, sports teams, social clubs or groups of friends, and will take place on Home Park.

It is a unique opportunity for Pilgrims to take play on the same surface as their Saturday afternoon heroes, and can be used as a reward for staff, to entertain prospective clients, or just to have fun.

Each team will play at least four games on the pitch, under floodlights.

Argyle’s Commercial Operations Manager James Greenacre said: “I’m delighted that we’re able to host this prestigious event at Home Park for members of the Green Army to experience the joys of playing on the pitch at Argyle.

“This is a great opportunity for fans to experience the dream of running onto the hallowed turf and firing in the winning goal to send their team through to a cup final. I’m sure that this will be an incredibly popular event with our supporters, and can’t wait to watch the action.”

The Tournament will be treated like the Champions’ League, with trophy presentations taking place at the end of the event. The managers of the finalists will then have a good-humoured press interview, filmed in front of the advertising boards in the tunnel, answering questions about their team's performance in the tournament final.

Argyle Community Trust Manager Mark Lovell said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to open the gates of Home Park to another audience prior to our Community Youth Cup, the proceeds of which will help enable us to deliver our Healthy Living programmes in schools in Devon and Cornwall.

“The tournament itself will give people a fantastic opportunity to play at Home Park with colleagues and in front of friends and family. This event is a perfect opportunity for the club and community to make Home Park a central attraction for all.”

There is a limit of 16 teams for the tournament. It will be a five-a-side tournament with eight players per squad. Each team will play a minimum of four 12-minutes matches, all based on Home Park. All games will be refereed by qualified match officials.

Friends and family will be encouraged to come and support your team from the stands and watch the action unfold. Catering Kiosks will be open (as per a normal match-day), and our team of Chef’s will also be providing their services from a Barbecue throughout the evening.

There will be a fee to enter the tournament of £350 per team, which includes:
•    Admission to the ground for players
•    Team photo
•    Certificate of Entry
•    Eight guest tickets
•    Commemorative t-shirt for each member.
