If You Close Your Eyes...

THERE is a special guest in the Argyle Press Box this afternoon: Chris Wood, aka ‘Woody’, the drummer with Brit award-winning nominated band Bastille.

The Plymothian and lifelong Pilgrims’ fan is co-commentating for BBC Radio Devon and Argyle Player alongside the Beeb’s top mike-man Gordon Sparks.

It is not the first time the pair have worked together – they shared commentary duties at our game at Dagenham & Redbridge in February 22, when we won 2-1. Prior to that, Woody had been our guest when we visited Northampton Town for a 2-0 victory. Hope his winning streak continues this afternoon.

Woody said: “Ever since Dagenham, I’ve been scanning the fixtures, looking for the chance to come to Home Park, and everything just fell into place for this game. It comes after the festival season and before we get down to our new album.

“There have been quite a few changes to the squad since I last saw them , so I’m looking forward to seeing the new players.

“Hopefully, I might also get down for a couple of games later in the year.”

Woody’s previous Plymouth visit was in March 3, when Bastille played the Pavilions on what was an emotional and very green homecoming.

“It was special,” he said, “and even more special because about half the Argyle squad came down.  I also got everyone to sing ‘Green Army’, as well.”
