Ant Wants Goals

WITH Andy Kellett having broken his goalscoring duck thanks to a wonderful strike in the 3-2 Sky Bet League 2 victory at Northampton...

...team-mate Anthony O’Connor is determined to follow suit.

Andy, whose loan from Bolton Wanderers has just been extended to January 17, weaved his way through the Cobblers’ defence to score Argyle’s second at Sixfields, five minutes before half-time.

“Andy is a good player and that’s what he’s all about – getting the ball and running with it,” said fellow loan player Anthony, who is scheduled to return to Blackburn Rovers in the new year. “He’s quite comfortable on the ball and quite quick and nippy; he has that in his armoury.

“I’m happy for him to get his first goal for the club and I’m hoping to get my first goal soon, as well. I’ve been saying to the lads that, next time we get a free-kick, I’m hitting it.”

Argyle’s third loan man, Bristol City midfielder Bobby Reid, returned to the side after missing the previous week’s FA Cup tie at Sheffield United and continued to show the best of himself.

“He’s good on the ball,” said Anthony. “He’s got that little but of cockiness about him and he always wants the ball, no matter what situation he’s in, and we try to give it to him as much as possible and let him create something.

“He’s probably not getting the chance he wants at Bristol and he wants to play football and he’s come here, like myself. We’re all gelling as a squad and hopefully we can kick on again next week and get another three points.”
