Captain Reubs

WHILST working closely with manager John Sheridan, Reuben Reid has now increased his goal tally to 13 for the season after Argyle’s 3-0 win over Dagenham & Redbridge.

The 26-year-old netted a brace either side of a Bobby Reid strike, as the Greens eased to their eighth home league of their Sky Bet League 2 campaign so far.

Sheridan has regularly been in the ear of Reuben this season to make sure that his star striker is playing to his full potential, and the boss is pleased to see those efforts come through on the pitch.

“I keep pushing him and pushing him,” said John. “I keep telling him, and I will be on his case all season.

“He knows where I am coming from, and he is a very important player for us. Sometimes he does not like what I say, but it is all for the benefit of him.

“I think I get my rewards when he plays like he did today and gets his goals. If he gets another 20 (goals, much like he did last season), I am doing something right.”

Reid was also handed the captain’s armband by his boss, as both Curtis Nelson and Peter Hartley were forced to miss out on the Daggers game through injury.

“I gave him the captain’s armband today," said John. "I could have given it to Luke - I just think we were quite a quiet team without (Curtis) Nelson and Peter (Hartley), who are very vocal.

“I think the lads would respond to Reuben, and it gives him a bit of leadership, plus hopefully a belief from me that I think he can do the job.”
