JOHN Sheridan is eager to see his Argyle side prosper during the busy Christmas period...

...as the Sky Bet League 2 table begins to take shape.

The sixth-placed Greens will have four fixtures to compete in over the space of 15 festive days, with games against Northampton Town this weekend, then Dagenham & Redbridge, Newport County and Oxford United all to come before the turn of the year.

Whilst some may shudder at the prospect of a game every four days, Sheridan wants his team to flourish in December because its demanding run of games often separates the men from the boys.

He said: “I think every manager will tell you that it is an important part [of the season], because you can really get in the mix if you have a good Christmas and New Year, with the games coming think and fast.

“This is probably where the table starts showing itself. We have got to be positive, and make sure we are one of the teams who are in there.

“We have got to get wins, and it starts with Northampton. If you can get a couple of results early, you can get the momentum going again.”
