Rallying Round Rodders

ANDY Kellett joined the entire Argyle dressing-room in rallying around young defender Aaron Bentley after the 2-1 Sky Bet League 2 defeat by Oxford United.

Bentley, 19, was sent off for a horribly mistimed tackle on Sam Long after half an hour of the Home Park encounter, at which point the Pilgrims led through Lewi Alessandra’s 19th-minute goal.

Reduced to ten men, they conceded late goals from John Campbell and James Roberts to stumble to only their second home loss of the campaign.

“Everyone’s behind him,” said fellow defender Andy. “It’s not his fault. He’s inexperienced; he’s still learning the game, like I am. He’s just got to move on – all the lads have told him ‘Just get on with it – it’s the past now’.

“I’ve seen him in the changing-room and he’s sad. I think he thinks it’s a defeat because of him, but it’s not. We’re in it as a team.

“The sending-off definitely changed the game. When we went to ten men, we still created chances that we should have scored, but that 11th man cost us.”
