In Due Course

ARGYLE are working with the University of St Mark and St John to offer a unique Higher Education studies programme in a foundation degree in Football Coaching and Development.

The course is based at Marjon University, Plymouth Argyle Football Club and is taught via a number of resources ranging from tutor led sessions, coaching sessions, work based learning and also coach development days.

The Foundation title is (FdA) Football Coaching and Development, with the principal aims being to:

•    Provide vocational experiences with mentoring support to ensure students can deliver high quality, age specific community football coaching sessions.
•    Underpin theory based studies alongside practical and work based environments to develop a higher level of coaches and expertise in football development.
•    To develop a highly skilled workforce to initiate football programmes within the local community.
•    Support the wider role of football within football league clubs and communities.

In addition to the academic course, there arealso training and games programmes where students get the opportunity to participate in regular coaching sessions and a games programme against other Universities, Football League clubs and guest teams. 

Every participant on the course will also undertake a variety of football and sports coaching qualifications during their time on the programme ranging from Street Soccer to FA Youth Awards and other qualifications.

Students study in a flexible environment, and gain a Foundation degree at a University recognised as one of the leaders in sports coaching and performance.

It also allows people the opportunity to improve their football performance by engaging in weekly sessions and competition with professional club coaches."
