Earning Their Stripes

FAMOUS members of the Green Army have kitted up for the new season and launched Argyle's new home strip for 2014-15.

Celebrity Argyle fans Chris 'Woody' Wood, Josh Widdicombe and Nigel Martyn took to Twitter to show off their new addition to the wardrobe, which sees the Pilgrims returning to a green-and-white striped jersey.

The players will wear the new kit for the first time in Tuesday's friendly at Tavistock. It will be available to supporters from the Argyle Superstore later this month.

Bastille drummer Woody, adding a stylish Argyle hat to his ensemble, tweeted: "Its Fashion Week (probably), so it's time to get kitted out with next season's threads from @Only1Argyle #pafc"

Woody was a lucky charm for Argyle last season, taking time out from Bastille's hectic schedule to take in our game at Northampton, which we won 2-0. A week later, having won a prestigious Brit award in the meantime, Woody joined Gordon Sparks for commentary on BBC Radio Devon and Argyle Player as the Greens ran out 2-1 victors.

Comedian Josh, from Haytor Vale on Dartmoor, was recently the named the new host of BBC Radio 5 Live's hit show Fighting Talk, and is a regular on panel shows such as Mock the Week and 8 out of 10 Cats. He said: "All the people tweeting about the new Arsenal shirt missed the real big story... The brand new @Only1Argyle shirt."

Nigel Martyn, a goalkeeper who played with distinction for clubs like Leeds and Everton, as well as making 23 appearance for England, never played for Argyle, despite being born in St Austell. He does, however, still follow his boyhood favourites, and turned up on the terraces when Argyle met York City last November. He tweeted "New Argyle kit looks great. Good luck to the lads wearing it for the first time tonight at Tavistock."

Excited to see what the new away kit looks like in the flesh? Keep you eye on our Twitter feed - as well of those of some notable Argyle fans - for a sneak peek later this week...
