It's Coming...

18 June 2014

THE 99th Devon Expressway Derby kicks off the Pilgrims’ home 2014-15 Sky Bet League 2 season.

Exeter City will be the first visitors to Home Park in the new campaign, on Saturday, August 16, a week after John Sheridan’s men open proceedings with an away fixture at divisional new boys Cambridge United on August 9.

We end the campaign away to newly relegated Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, May 2, with our final home game – against fellow relegated league 1 side Tranmere Rovers – taking place the weekend previously.

We meet Exeter City again, for the historic 100th meeting between the two sides, at St James' Park on Saturday, February 21.

We are at home to Dagenham & Redbridge on the weekend before Christmas, Saturday, December 20, and away to Newport County on Boxing Day, Friday, December 26.

There is no New Year's Day game but we travel to York City and Southend United in the first ten days of 2015, on Saturday, January 3 (FA Cup commitments notwithstanding) and Saturday, February 10.

Easter Monday sees us visit Portsmouth for the second Dockyard Derby of the season – the home naval engagement is Saturday, November 15 – while we are slated to entertain Burton Albion on Easter Saturday, April 4.

Our first midweek match at Home Park is in the second week of the season, on Tuesday, August 19, when we entertain Stevenage for the first time ever. With a home Capital One Cup tie against Leyton Orient also scheduled for that week, we will have three home matches in eight days, including a massive derby match.

Other home midweek evening league matches see us entertain Wycombe, on September 16, and AFC Wimbledon, on April 14.

We also have our seemingly traditional away midweek fixture against the Dons, on October 21, and play away in midweek at Wycombe, on February 10; Stevenage, on March 3; and Dagenham & Redbridge, on March 17.

Our longest trip of the season, to relegated Carlisle United, is the penultimate away match of the campaign, on April 18 – as it was the last time we won promotion from the bottom division.

We entertain old rivals Luton Town on Saturday, September 6, with the Home Park re-engagement on Saturday, January 19.

All fixtures are subject to confirmation.
