James the Ref

JAMES Linington will the official when Argyle meet Bristol Rovers on Saturday.

The Isle of Wight-based referee has been in charge of the Pilgrims on seven previous occasions, with mixed fortunes for Argyle. We have won three, drawn one and lost three when James has been in the middle.

His most recent appointment involving us was when we lost 2-1 to Swindon in this year's Johnstone's Paint Trophy. His last league game involving Argyle came when we beat Southend 2-0 towards the end of last season. We were given a penalty in that game, which Paul Wotton converted.

Another notable fixture in which Linington was the ref was a 1-1 draw at home to Hereford in which Argyle's goal came from a Nick Chadwick penalty. Michael Townsend of Hereford and Darren Purse of Argyle were both sent off in the game.

This season, James has refereed 25 games, dishing out a total of 74 cautions. He has sent off five players - three for straight red card offences. Seven penalties have been awarded in his games this campaign.
