Not For Me

JOHN Sheridan believes his Sky Bet Manager of the Month award nomination is purely down the performance of his players in October.

The Football League have recognised the impressive from John and the lads during last month, and have shortlisted him for the award alongside Luton Town’s John Still, Newport County manager Justin Edinburgh, and Micky Mellon, of Shrewsbury Town.

John, however, was keen to stress the hard work and effort put in by his players to take 13 points from the possible 15 on offer during October, and certainly will not be resting on his laurels.

“It is not for me really – it is for the players,” said John. “I have had a great response and reaction from the players in the last month. It should be Team of the Month, not Manager of the Month, because the players have won it with their performances out on the pitch.

“When I was at Chesterfield when I won the league, I didn’t get Manager of the Month once, so it does not really worry me.

“But it is always good to receive recognition. It gets people talking about Plymouth.”
