Newport U18 2 Argyle 2

FOR the second consecutive game, Argyle under-18s dropped points after conceding in injury time.

In fact, all four goals in this contest came late on, with the opening goal arriving two minutes from the end of the match, when Callum Hall used his pace to burst through Newport’s defence, round the ’keeper, and slot the ball home. But Newport responded immediately to level the score.

Argyle's lead was restored when, from the kick off. Jack Calver made room down the right flank and his ball found Jake Miller who returned the favour. Calver crashed the ball into the corner of the net.

In the dying seconds of injury-time, Argyle failed to deal with a wide free-kick and Newport snatched a point.

Academy Manager Kevin Hodges said: "We created at least a dozen chances to break the deadlock and, although we performed well, our inability to convert these chances cost us once again. This is something our players are going to have to get to grips with and learn how to manage the game during these key times during the match.

"On a positive note, we are creating lots of goal scoring opportunities as a team."
