Gunning for Points

“ALL guns blazing” was John Sheridan’s immediate rallying cry as he faces up to “two massive games” at Home Park following Argyle’s Easter Monday defeat at Portsmouth.

The 2-1 reverse at Fratton Park saw the Pilgrims drop out of the Sky Bet League 2 play-off positions with just five matches of the season remaining to be played.

With successive home fixtures coming up against Mansfield Town, on Saturday, and AFC Wimbledon, the following Tuesday, Argyle are now one of five teams with realistic aims of securing one of what looks like two available play-off places.

“We’ve got two massive games now at home, massive games,” said John. “We know the importance of them now.  I feel as though we’ve got to win both games.

“I have always said [the season] would go to the final game, or the last two games. A lot of teams are right in there. We have just got to look after ourselves. If we can get maximum points out of the two games, I’m sure we will be back in the play-offs.

“We are going to work very hard to try to win both games. They are really important games. We can only look after ourselves and we know we’ve got to win games.

“Our home form is not too bad, so we have got to go all guns blazing and try to win both games.”
