Brendan in the Middle

REFEREE Brendan Malone is the man the charge for Argyle’s Sky Bet League 2 home game against Accrington Stanley.

The Wiltshire whistler made his Football League debut in 2010, in a League 2 game between Oxford United and Morecambe at the Kassam Stadium. This ended 4-0 to Oxford United, where he sent off Morecambe’s Laurence Wilson for two bookable offences.

Malone has refereed Argyle on eight different occasions. He has sent off one Argyle player - Onismor Bhasera against Bradford City, in a 1-1 draw in the League 2 game in 2011.

The first time Malone refereed an Argyle game, in 2010, Argyle lost 2-0 at home to Brighton and Hove Albion in League 1. In addition, Argyle picked up three cautions, namely Reda Johnson, Marcel Seip and Krisztian Timar.

Since the start of the 2014-15 season, Brendan Malone has refereed in 19 games. These 19 games include refereeing games in the Championship, League One, League Two FA Cup, Capital One Cup and Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.

In those 19 games he has dished out 40 yellow cards and three red cards. One of those red cards was shown in Argyle’s game against Southend - to Shrimpers player Cian Bolger, who was dismissed after just 15 minutes.
