Argyle v Crawley - Pilgrim Punting

SATURDAY will see Argyle face the first of four teams that were relegated from Sky Bet League 1 last season...

with Crawley Town currently in 21st position, whilst the Pilgrims moved back into second place on Tuesday with a victory over Barnet.

The Pilgrims are 8/13 with Sky Bet to pick up their fourth home league win of the season when they meet Crawley, who themselves haven’t recorded a home league win this season.

Tuesday night saw Crawley Town pick up their second League 2 win of the season, at bottom of the table Newport County, who only have five points from ten games. The Red Devils are 9/2 to win at Home Park, and a draw is 14/5.

In five of the ten games Crawley have played this season, one of the teams has scored three goals, so betting on goals may be a good idea. Before Tuesday, Crawley had lost four on the bounce, conceding 12 goals in those games. A 3-0 Argyle win is 11/1, whilst 4-0 is 25/1 and 4-1 is 28/1.

So far this season, Jake Jervis has scored six goals in nine games, and is priced 11/8 to score his seventh anytime against Crawley. Tuesday night also saw Graham Carey bag another goal, his fifth in the league this season, and he is 7/4 to score anytime.

For a bigger price, let us look at the old 'curse of the returning player'. We often notice it when it goes against us, but maybe it could work in our favour this week. Josh Simpson, who spent four seasons at Crawley Town is 11/4 to score against his old club, or 8/1 to net the first goal.

Argyle to score two or more in the first-half could be wise, at a reasonable 4/1. Argyle to score four or more is 8/1, and in a game that looks like it could have goals, over 4.5 goals is valued at 11/2. Both teams to score and an Argyle win is priced at 11/4.

That’s worth a punt, surely?
