Doubtful Reubs

ARGYLE look likely to be without striker Reuben Reid for Saturday’s Sky Bet League 2 visit to Luton Town.

The Pilgrims’ leading scorer for the past two seasons missed Tuesday’s 1-0 defeat at Oxford after injuring himself in the Pilgrims’ previous match at home to Accrington Stanley.

The 26-year-old was bang in form before his injury, having scored four goals in four games.

Manager Derek Adams said: “You miss Reuben because of his goals, but we had players in the team who caused Oxford problems.

“He’s probably doubtful for Saturday; it looks like he’s out, but time will tell. He’s hurt his hip flexor. We’ll assess him week by week, day by day.”

Jake Jervis was switched to the central forward poistion for the first half of the game at Oxford, with Graham Carey filling the role after a half-time switch.

“We thought we could cause their centre-backs a wee bit of a problem,” said Derek. “Playing with a big guy up front sometimes suits a centre-half – when we play with smaller person coming off them, they do not like it.

“That was shown because Graham caused them problems – he got fouls and he came into areas where he was very dangerous.”
