Reasons to be Cheerful: Argyle v Morecambe

OUR resident Mr Brightside, HADEN TYE, has once more jotted down his reasons to be optimistic this weekend...

Home Comforts
Argyle have played Morecambe at Home Park four times in the past four seasons, and the Pilgrims have never lost. Argyle have drawn twice and won twice against the Shrimps. Last season the fixture ended a 1-1 draw with Reuben Reid scoring for the Pilgrims.

We Want Five
If Argyle avoid defeat at Home Park against Morecambe it would make it five undefeated against the Shrimps at the Theatre of Greens. Not only this, but 'we want five' would have been a chant when the Pilgrims met Morecambe in March 2014, as Argyle ran out 5-0 winners, with Durrell Berry, Curtis Nelson, Andres Gurrieri and a Lewis Alessandra brace.

Winners on the Road
Last time we played on October 31, Argyle impressed as they beat Middlesbrough 1-0 at the Riverside Stadium courtesy of a Jamie Mackie goal. The game was Gordon Strachan's first as Middlesborough manager in 2009, and his side could have got a draw. Adam Johnson missed a penalty for the Reds and Argyle held on to win 1-0.

Man Who?
Argyle have beaten Manchester United on October 31 before. That game was in 1931 at Home Park, with Joe Mantle, Ray Bowden and Tommy Grozier making the scoresheet for the Pilgrims in a 3-1 win. It was a league game and the crowd was 22,555.
