Smalley's Challenge

DEANE Smalley continues his comeback from serious injury...

...when Argyle begin their defence of the Edenvale Turf Devon St Luke's Challenge Cup on Tuesday.

Deane is named in a 16-man Pilgrims squad for the visit of Tavistock to Home Park in the opening round of the competition which Argyle won last season.

The 27-year-old striker is back in business after suffering ligament and cartilage damage in a training-ground clash with team-mate Ollie Norburn last year.

Also included is goalkeeper James Bittner, who has recovered from a back operation, and three sets of brothers: Cory and Tyler Harvey; Jordan and Aaron Bentley; and Dan and Louis Rooney.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm; entry is £4 for adults, and £2 for concessions.

Tavistock play in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division - one division higher than our Advanced Development side. They won the Division 1 East title last season.

Argyle won the Cup last season after a penalty shoot-out following a thrilling 4-4 draw with Bideford at Coach Road.
