Smalley's Challenge

12 October 2015

DEANE Smalley continues his comeback from serious injury...

...when Argyle begin their defence of the Edenvale Turf Devon St Luke's Challenge Cup on Tuesday.

Deane is named in a 16-man Pilgrims squad for the visit of Tavistock to Home Park in the opening round of the competition which Argyle won last season.

The 27-year-old striker is back in business after suffering ligament and cartilage damage in a training-ground clash with team-mate Ollie Norburn last year.

Also included is goalkeeper James Bittner, who has recovered from a back operation, and three sets of brothers: Cory and Tyler Harvey; Jordan and Aaron Bentley; and Dan and Louis Rooney.

The game kicks off at 7.45pm; entry is £4 for adults, and £2 for concessions.

Tavistock play in the South West Peninsula League Premier Division - one division higher than our Advanced Development side. They won the Division 1 East title last season.

Argyle won the Cup last season after a penalty shoot-out following a thrilling 4-4 draw with Bideford at Coach Road.

Argyle (v Tavistock, Tuesday, October 13, 7.45pm): Aaron Bentley, Jordan Bentley, James Bittner (gk), Jack Calver, Callum Hall, Cory Harvey (gk), Tyler Harvey, Alex Fletcher, Liam Knowles, Ryan Lane, Billy Palfrey, Jamil Roberts, Dan Rooney, Louis Rooney, Deane Smalley, Jason Vincent.
