Mad Dog's Marathon

FORMER Pilgrim Brian McGlinchey is appealing to the Green Army...

...to support him once again when he takes on the Virgin London Marathon in April.

Glinch, who was a key part of the Pilgrims Third Division Championship winning side of 2001-02, is hoping to raise £5,000 for the Lighthouse Club, a charity which supports construction workers and their families through times of death, illness and injury in the UK.

As well as taking part in the big run on Sunday, April 24, Brain and running partner Rob Bennett are looking at raising money through various fundraising ideas including a Quiz and Curry Night and a raffle which includes Capital One Cup Final tickets among the prizes.

The Curry Night and Quiz event takes place at Hyde Park Social Club on Friday, March 4, starting at 7pm. Tickets cost £15 each, including a curry meal, and open to teams of up to six members.

To reserve, a table please contact Brian at brian.mcglinchey@lloydsbanking.com, or Rob at rbennett@spheresolutions.co.uk.

Everyone who donates £2.50 or more to Brian and Rob’s JustGiving page will be entered into a draw for a pair of match-tickets for the Carling Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City at Wembley on February 28, with hotel accommodation the night before the game thrown in.

Anyone donating £2.50 option will receive one raffle ticket for the draw; a £10 donation will buy five tickets; and £20 option will get 10 tickets. Go to Brian and Rob’s JustGiving page at bit.ly/helpglinch, and indicate which option, and leave your name, in the note.
