Peninsula Preview - Argyle v Millbrook

ARGYLE welcome lowly Millbrook to Seale Hayne for a Peninsula League clash this weekend but past experience has Head Coach Kevin Nancekivell anticipating a tough encounter.

The Pilgrims scraped to a 1-0 win at Millbrook earlier this season and while our visitors are toiling at the wrong end of the table, Argyle will again be forced to call upon 16 year-olds in our bid to close the gap on leaders Mousehole.

After a bruising 1-1 draw at high-flying Sticker last weekend, the Greens will be desperate for all three points to keep our promotion dreams alive.

“We have a Youth Alliance game for the club on Friday, which will mean playing a lot of 16 year-olds against Millbrook,” said Nancekivell. “It’s great experience for them and they will have to make the step up.

“We took a while to get going at Sticker but dominated the second-half, and probably should have won the game. I’ll be asking the players to start this weekend as they completed the match at Sticker.

“I pay no interest in league positions because we only just managed a 1-0 win at Millbrook in September and they gave us a very difficult afternoon, so we need to show the right approach from the first whistle.”
