Destination: Home Park

AS far as Argyle boss Derek Adams is concerned, Home Park is the place to be.

The Pilgrims have been hard at work already this month with maintaining their table-topping squad, extending the loans of both Craig Tanner and Oscar Threlkeld. Derek is far from done, though, and says he is running the rule over multiple players who have stated their interest in becoming a part of Argyle’s push for promotion.

“We’re still looking at signings, we’re still looking at people, but there’s nothing happening at this moment in time,” said Adams.

“I think everybody’s interested in coming to Plymouth Argyle. The players we’re speaking to want to come, so we’ll wait and see.”

Acquiring talent during January is a tactic Adams has used to great effect in the past, and with the quality of Sky Bet League 2 football shown in many FA Cup ties this past weekend, he knows the importance of bolstering an already talented squad this month.

“I think it shows how good the teams are in this division,” said Derek. “They’ve all performed well over the FA Cup this weekend, and I know some teams have had weakened teams and that’s obviously helped, but it doesn’t take away from the fact that they’ve managed to either progress or get draws against higher opposition.

“I think that all teams have been able to put a game on Saturday together, and they’ve all shown how good a league this is.

“I think we’ve got a good squad, and I think we’ve shown good continuity throughout the squad, but I’ve always said that I’d like to strengthen the squad in January and we’re trying to do that.”
