Goal of the Season - The Winner

LOUIS Rooney's first ever goal - in his first ever professional game - is the winner of the Argyle Goal of the Season competition for 2015-16.

The teenager made his debut in Argyle's last regular season game of the season - a 5-0 thumping of Hartlepool United - and marked it with a brace of goals. The first, a dipping volley from wide on the right, sent Home Park into raptures, and it has prevailed over a plethora of fine strikes made by Pilgrims during the season.

After 16 goals had been selected, a knockout bracket was set up, with head-to-head battles between goals being voted on by the Green Army. Rooney's place in the final was assured after a victory over Ryan Brunt's wonderstrike at Dagenham & Redbridge, and met fierce competition from a Graham Carey piledriver scored at home to Millwall. As good as Carey's majestic strike was, the fans decided that Rooney's was better than them all.

Louis has recently signed a new contract at Argyle, and will be looking to add to his tally of games and goals in the green and white. If any of them resemble his first ever goal for the club, he will be one happy Pilgrim.
