Phwoar! Fletcher Powers Pilgrims Through

FA Youth Cup, first round - Cheltenham Town 1 Argyle 5

ALEX Fletcher, scored four goals, including a hat-trick of headers, as Argyle's youth team progressed to the second round of the FA Youth Cup with a comfortable win at Whaddon Road.

Connor McAuley provided three assists for Fletcher, who opened the scoring in the 13th minute from a left-wing cross.

The Young Pilgrims, who drew 2-2 at Cheltenham in a Youth Alliance game earlier this season, remained on top for the rest of the half, with Fletcher doubling the lead before the interval from McAuley's corner.

Torquay Grammar School graduate Fletcher completed his triple five minutes after the break when McAuley headed on a cross from full-back Harry Hodges.

Ben Hailwood gave the home side some hope in the 57th minute by cracking home a shot from the edge of the box.

However, Fletcher turned provider to settle the nerves and set up Josh Richards for Argyle's fourth seven minutes from time. 

The Newton Abbot striker then completed a memorable night by adding a fifth - his fourth - five minutes from time after a sweet touch and volley inside the penalty area.
