Peninsula Report - Plymouth Parkway 1 Argyle 1

THE much-anticipated Plymouth derby lived up to the pre-match billing, as Argyle and Parkway battled out a feisty 1-1 draw in the Peninsula League.

Parkway earned their draw with a late equaliser from Josh Zimmerman after the ten-man Pilgrims had snatched the lead on 74 minutes with an assured finish from Alex Battle.

In front of an impressive crowd of 636 fans, the tackles were flying around in a highly-competitive encounter that was still played in good spirit at Bolitho Park.

Ben Steer had the best chance of a tight first half for Argyle but his shot was well saved, and the headed rebound from Connor McAuley soared over the bar.

Vincent Dorel then had to show his best with two excellent blocks early in the second period and the game swung in Parkway’s favour when young defender Ryan Law was dismissed for two bookable offences on 67 minutes.

Argyle responded admirably to the setback and edged in front with a low shot from Battle but Parkway salvaged a point when Zimmerman fired through a crowd following a corner in injury time.
