Accentuate the Positives

AFTER Argyle secured a sixth straight win of the season by overcoming Cambridge United 2-1, Derek Adams emphasised the power of positivity that has taken the Greens to Sky Bet League 2's summit.

Two excellent team goals from the Greens, converted by Graham Carey and Jordan Slew after nine and 59 minutes respectively, were enough to nullify Medy Elito's late goal for the visitors and take Argyle to the top of the table.

"I think it was a very good performance," said Derek. "I think that winning the game and winning six in a row is very important - and two very good goals in that game.

"We just look at things as we go along, and I think that it's important as a manager to look at each game as it comes. We've done that, and we just want to continue working hard.

"This is a difficult league - we know that from last season. To win six games on the trot is very good, but we see by other results that it's a hugely competitive league. We don't get carried away with anything; we want to keep our feet on the ground and we want to do well each week."

Spirits in the Argyle camp are undoubtedly high as they begin to turn their collective attention to the small matter of a Devon Derby against Exeter City next weekend. Adams will be ensuring the dressing room stays positive and driven from now until Saturday's early-afternoon kick-off, intent on making it seven on the spin at St James Park.

"We've had an excellent start of the season and we want to continue that," said Adams. "We'll work hard and keep it going, and keep the positive vibe about the place.

"We'll allow other people to create a negative vibe, which happens. If you talk about the negatives, we'll talk about the positives, and we'll get moving."
