Peninsula Report: Argyle 6 Saltash 3

A DAZZLING second-half display booked Argyle a place in the semi-finals of the Walter C Parson Cup at the hands of league leaders Saltash United.

The visitors grabbed an early lead through Sam Hughes but striker Alex Fletcher must have felt Argyle nerves were calmed when he levelled on 17 minutes. Saltash had other ideas, as a second from Hughes and then leading scorer Ryan Richards to secure a 3-1 lead at the interval.

The Pilgrims needed a swift reply in the second period and when that arrived through Alex Battle, the game completely changed. Dan Rooney drew Argyle level on the hour and Saltash were unable to raise their game again.

A terrific brace from Jack Calver effectively killed the game and there was still time for Aaron Taylor to add further gloss to an impressive scoreline.
