Peninsula Report - Argyle 4 Torpoint 0

A FINE game of football turned into a late barrage of goals that was perhaps a little cruel on a spirited performance from Torpoint.

As is often the pattern with Argyle’s Peninsula performances, the Pilgrims controlled possession for periods of the game but they were always wary of a considerable threat from Torpoint on the break.

The major surprise was the fact it took 76 minutes for Alex Fletcher to finally break the deadlock and it was a goal that also broke visiting hearts, as Billy Palfrey swiftly doubled the lead for Argyle.

Fletcher was beginning to really shine and he completed a lethal hat-trick with a delightful finish and a header from a corner. Argyle also gave 45 minutes to first-team left-back Gary Sawyer in his continued recovery from injury.
