Bradley Needed Goals

ARGYLE Chief Scout Greg Strong saw coming what Doncaster Rovers did not – the goal-threat of Argyle centre-back Sonny Bradley.

The Yorkshire defender returned to home soil on Sunday to head the Pilgrims’ winner in Sunday’s 1-0 victory at Sky Bet League leaders Doncaster Rovers – his seventh goal of by far the most productive season of his career.

Prior to joining the Pilgrims in the summer, Sonny, who claimed Sunday’s winner from a 50th-minute corner, had scored only six goals since turning professional in 2011.

Argyle manager Derek Adams: “We have got very good delivery and very good height in the team. It was a great ball in from Graham Carey, a wee bit of movement in the box, and it allowed Sonny to be free.

“He has been a big player for us this season; he’s defended well; he’s really grown in confidence as the weeks go by; and he’s allowed himself to score a good few important goals.

“Greg Strong said he should score more goals because of the presence he has. We have very good delivery from set-plays and it’s given him the opportunity to do that.”
