Goal of the Season 2016-17 - Round One

AFTER the success of last year's Goal of the Season tournament, where 16 goals battled it out, tournament-style, to decide on a winner...

...we have decided to bring back the format to select this season's best Argyle goal.

There were many great moments in a promotion-winning campaign for the Pilgrims, but which individual strikes stand out most for you? It is time to find out.

We will conduct a 16-goal single-elimination tournament, where each day we offer you a series of head-to-head encounters. You simply select the goal you like best in each of the eight first round contests. The eight winners will then be drawn into quarter finals the following day, and we will have a fresh vote. This will continue to semi-finals, then a final on Saturday, to determine the winner.

Last season, two goals dominated, with Louis Rooney's volley against Hartlepool ultimately pipping a stunning Graham Carey effort against Millwall in the final. As ever, we encourage you to vote for your favourite goals: the criteria are really down to you. Do you vote for team goals over individual brilliance? Is there sentiment if it was a home-grown player getting the goal? Does the quality of opposition or importance of the fixture come into play? It is entirely up to you.

Below this text you will find a video to remind you of each goal and to show you the match-ups. Watch it, re-familiarise yourself with the goals, and select your favourites.

Then, click THIS LINK to fill out the survey and choose your favourite goals.

The survey will end at 11.45pm each night, with the next round's head-to-heads being revealed the following morning. You can vote once each day.
