Argyle Ladies Sail Past Alphington

Devon Senior Cup Quarter Final: Alphington 1 Plymouth Argyle 11

Argyle Ladies overcame conceding an early goal to see off their East Devon hosts in brutal fashion with top scorer Natasha Knapman helping herself to five goals.

Argyle were stunned when a poor back pass was capitalised on by Sophie-Louise Simpson to give Alphington the lead. Within two minutes Argyle drew level when captain Katie Middleton knocked in a Kayleigh Brown corner.

The goals started to come with Knapman then Brown and Knapman made it 4-1 with a terrific run past a number of defenders by Hepworth who then fired the ball into the net. Argyle were now playing with confidence as the goals kept coming. Knapman completed her hat trick with Cunningham adding the next. Becky Atkins added the next followed by Knapman's fourth. Jessie Boston also got in on the act which left Knapman to complete her day’s work with another goal.

Manager Travis Rowland said: "I am glad we were able to play this match as once again our stop start season saw us lose early rhythm and momentum. But once we got into the game it became one way traffic."

Argyle squad: Michaela Phillips, Daecey Hepworth, Kate Middleton, Dani Barr, Kayley Lane, Ezme Wells, Becky Dandridge, Natasha Knapman, Jessie Boston, Kayleigh Brown, Mollie Taylor.
