Peninsula Report - Argyle 7 Witheridge 1

A YOUNG Argyle side continued their development in the South West Peninsula League on Wednesday night as they ran out 7-1 winners against bottom side Witheridge.

It was a night to remember for young Argyle striker Jude Boyd. The Under-16 forward scored a hat-trick much to the delight of Academy Director Kevin Hodges.

Hodges said: “Jude has only just started at this level after playing Under-16 football. We were delighted for him and a performance like that will do his confidence a world of good. We also had Mani Skett and Rubin Wilson who played 90 minutes and are getting used to playing competitive men’s football. It was a good result overall on a tricky pitch for the lads.”

Argyle, who scored four in the first half thanks to Boyd, Adam Randell, Aaron Goulty and Skett, continued to play some good football in the second with Boyd scoring twice more and Goulty adding his second of the game late on. Witheridge did get a consolation goal but the Pilgrims came out on top after a fine display from the young Greens.

Argyle: Michael Cooper, Michael Peck, Andrew Burn, Elliot Crawford (Harry Downing HT), Ryan Law (Harry Hodges HT), Adam Randell, Rio Garside, Mani Skett, Aaron Goulty, Jude Boyd, Rubin Wilson.

Goals: Boyd 22, 48, 50, Randell 29, Goulty 32, 75, Skett 44.
