There's a Tavern in the Ground

AS the 2017-18 Sky Bet League campaign draws to a dramatic close, so Plymouth Argyle and the Green Army are already preparing for exciting developments next season.

Work on the eagerly-anticipated rebuild of the main grandstand at Home Park has begun and will gather greater speed as soon as the final whistle is blown on the Pilgrims’ current season.

As part of the overall development at the Theatre of Greens, a new two-storey supporters’ bar is being built on the site of the old Far Post.

The bar, which will offer the biggest and best ever range of match-day food, drink and entertainment to Argyle fans, is the result of the ongoing partnership between Argyle and the Green Taverners supporters’ group.

A lease has been agreed between the two parties that will see the GTs operate the venue, which will open before the end of 2018.

Argyle Head of Operations, Jon Back, the club’s Project Manager for the rebuild, said: “This is another huge step forward as we continue with our programme that will see fantastic new facilities available to every member of the Green Army.

“I’d like to thank the Green Taverners for their remarkable continuing support of the club.”

The site of the supporters’ bar has been the subject of careful planning which will allow for completion of the Barn Park-Grandstand corner in the future.
