OUR Carlsberg South West Peninsula League side got the weekend off to a good start with a 3-1 victory over Elburton Villa.

Lionel Ainsworth opened the scoring in the Premier Division clash at Coach Road, after the Elburton goalkeeper had made good saves from Calum Dyson and Antoni Sarcevic.

However, the Plymouth-based visitors levelled before half-time when Matt Thackeray headed home, unmarked, from a corner.

It took a solo goal from Alex Battle 15 minutes from time to restore the lead for an Argyle side that also included Peter Grant and Joe Riley. The reserve team forward dribbled around four playeers before executing a fine finish.

Luke Jephcott then sealed our first win in this season's competition when he capitalised on an underhit pass back to score.
