Peninsula Report - Millbrook 2 Argyle 2

ARGYLE picked up their second Peninsula League draw in six days with a 2-2 result against Cornish side Millbrook

Two of first-team manager Derek Adams' new signings, Joe Riley and Peter Grant, plus Lionel Ainsworth were amongst the nine professionals in the starting line-up with only goalkeeper Harry Townsend and Rio Garside from the Academy.

Little happened in the opening exchanges until Argyle took a 24th minute lead as Ainsworth sent Harry Hodges away down the right flank and the full back's superb low cross was converted, at the near post, by Alex Flecher.

The newly promoted side were level, seven minutes later, as Laurence Murray's free kick found skipper Tom Hall at the back post to cushion his header back across Townsend and inside the far post.

It was not until the 68th minute that Argyle restored their lead as Garside found Alex Battle 12 yards from goal to fire low past Chris Wearing and into the corner of the home goal.

The Pilgrims were looking the better side until Grant's attemped chest back to Townsend sold the 'keeper short for Rikki Shepherd to nip in and lift the ball past the onrushing 'keeper.
