Apprentices on Board

THE latest two of our Under-16s, Isaac Burdon and Mani Skett, have accepted their offer of an apprenticeship for next season here at Home Park.

Isaac is a defender from Saltash who attends Ivybridge Community College and who started playing, aged nine, for Saltash Youth before moving to Callington Colts in the DJM League.

He progressed through Argyle’s player pathway, moving from the Plymouth Long Term Player Development Centre into the Centre of Excellence before being signing for the Academy at Under-11 level. Isaac was selected to play in the Super Cup in Northern Ireland in 2015 and 2016, and, during the 2017-18 season, has played for the Under-18s and South West Peninsula team on a number of occasions. He also represented Plymouth Schoolboys, captaining for the Under-14 and Under-15 age-groups.

Mani is a winger from Ashburton who attends South Dartmoor Community College. He was spotted by John James playing in the Pioneer Youth League (South Devon) for Liverton Under-13s, for who he scored 64 goals in 30 games.

Mani signed for the Academy the following year after a successful trial period and was regularly playing up an age-group in games programme fixtures. He represented the Academy in the Super Cup in Northern Ireland in 2016. During the 2016-17 season, Mani made his full Under-18 debut, scoring against Bristol Rovers, as a 15-year-old. He also represented Torbay Schoolboys in the Under-14 and Under-15 age-groups.
