Argyle haben ein Freundschaftsspiel

DEREK Adams’ wanderlust is taking Argyle to new places.

The Gaffer has secured a friendly for his Pilgrims side in Germany, as Argyle will take on SV Schermbeck.

The game, on Tuesday, July 24, will come during Argyle’s third annual trip to a Dutch training centre in Delden. Argyle will cross the border and travel around an hour to Schermbeck, in the Rhine-Westphalia area of Germany. Schermbeck is a town, about the size of Tavistock, not too far from cities like Dortmund, Essen and Duisburg.

SV Schermbeck are a German sports club with many interests. The group play football, swimming, water polo, handball, table tennis, athletics and badminton.

Their football team are currently in the Westfalenliga 1, which is the sixth tier of German football. In 2015, SV Schermbeck were promoted after a 3-0 victory in the decider against Westfalia Wickede to go up to the Oberliga Westfalen, but the year after they were relegated again.

In the 2017-18 season they finished 2nd to FC Gievenbeck, missing out on the top spot by 14 points.They now have a play-off to get themselves promoted to tier five. 

The match between the two sides will be played at Volksbank Arena Schermbeck with a local kick-off time of 6:30pm, which is 5:30pm English time.

Admission to the match is €4 for all. Dortmund and Dusseldorf airports are within 100km of where the game is being held.
