Oxford 5 Argyle Youth 0

ARGYLE'S three-match unbeaten run in the EFL Youth Alliance League ended without even a whimper as they crashed to this defeat, which gave Oxford an easy double over their visitors.

Academy Director Kevin Hodges was not a happy man after the final whistle, saying: “It was one of those games when we had the ball and looked okay until we tried to get forward. As an attacking force we were non-existent yet Oxford looked likely to score when they went forward.”

The O's took an 18th-minute lead as a cross from the left flank found a home forward completely unmarked to head past Harry Townsend.

Two more goals followed before the half-time whistle came to Argyle's rescue and, although we started the second half with more purpose, it was another defensive mistake that saw the home side make it 4-0 on 62 minutes.

Argyle were fortunate that Oxford only added one more goal and, to sum up the afternoon, we had Rio Garside harshly red-carded in the second minute of stoppage time.

Argyle: Harry Townsend, Joe Seery (Rudi McKinnon 70), Alfie Wotton (Owen Price 70), Jarvis Cleal, Michael Peck, Tom Purrington, Rhys Fuller (Jacob Hale 55), Rio Garside, Rubin Wilson, Klaidi Lolos, Aaron Goulty.
