Argyle 0 Exmouth 1

ARGYLE went down to a narrow defeat at home to Exmouth Town in the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League.

Nathan Cooper notched for the visitors on six minutes and, despite creating a number of chances in the first period, Argyle failed to breakdown a stubborn resistance from Exmouth.

The winner stemmed from hesitant defending, as the Pilgrims reacted slowly to the danger and Cooper took advantage of a lack of pressure on the ball to lash home the solitary goal.

Klaidi Lolos went close with a volley moments after the opener and Luke Jephcott also had a chance. Jordan Bentley shot narrowly over just before half-time and a case of squandered opportunities from the Pilgrims.

Exmouth stayed impressively compact after the break and Argyle’s dominance of possession went unrewarded. Jephcott did force a good save from the visiting custodian and Michael Cooper pulled out a fantastic block at the other end, but there was no breakthrough for the young Greens.
