The Argyle Family

ARGYLE Ladies enjoyed a wonderful occasion in their thrilling 5-4 defeat at home to Watford last weekend in front of 800 supporters.

It was the first chance for fans to sample the magnificent new Mayflower Grandstand and first-team manager Ryan Lowe is delighted to have a successful Ladies team in the Pilgrim family.

“I followed the game and they were winning 2-0 at one point,” said Ryan. “It’s great to have them using the pitch and the facilities, and 800 fans here supporting them.

“If we can get a consistent balance and they can use the pitch quite often through the season, it’s something the chairman and his wife Jane are big on, and so am I. If they can use the pitch and get a big crowd, it will be a good thing.”

The visit of Morecambe in Sky Bet League Two tomorrow will be the next stage in the opening of the Grandstand, with 50% of the new facility open to the Green Army, which adds extra spice to the occasion, as the Greens look to get back on the winning trail after a narrow loss at Cambridge last weekend.

“I’m excited [about the Grandstand] but even more excited about the game,” said Ryan. “When you’ve lost a game of football, you want to put the wrongs to right. I don’t know what the capacity will be but it will be a good day.”
