ARGYLE have dropped further behind leaders Exmouth Town after a frustrating defeat to Saltash United in the Carlsberg South-West Peninsula League.

The Ashes were inspired from the first minute at a blustery Kimberley Stadium, surging in front when Sam Hughes pounced from close range and the Pilgrims were two behind at the break, as Ryan Richards converted a cross from Danny Lewis.

Saltash effectively sealed their victory with a thunderbolt from Richard Maddison early in the second half. Alex Fletcher grabbed a consolation for Argyle but this one was a well deserved victory for the home side.

Argyle: Michael Cooper; Tafari Moore, Ryan Law, Connor Grant (Adam Randell), Andy Burn, Isaac Burdon, Lionel Ainsworth, Antoni Sarcevic (Tom Purrington 60), Alex Fletcher, Jude Boyd (Michael Peck 80), Luke Jephcott.
