Pilgrim Permutations

AS we approach the final hours before the Pilgrims’ season-defining clash with Scunthorpe at Home Park this evening, Argyle Media have pulled together a list of the possible outcomes from the final 90 minutes of the Sky Bet League One campaign.

There are multiple permutations – but to simplify things, Argyle must better the result of Southend in order to remain in Sky Bet League One. If Southend win at home to Sunderland, all eyes will be cast to Valley Parade, where the Pilgrims require a favour from Bradford. If the Bantams defeat AFC Wimbledon, a win for Argyle would also secure a third successive season in the third tier.

ARGYLE will start next season in Sky Bet League One if…

They WIN and Southend do not

or

They WIN, Southend win, but AFC Wimbledon lose

or

They DRAW, Southend lose and Walsall do not win

or

They WIN by four goals, Southend win and AFC Wimbledon draw

or, in the highly unlikely events that…

They WIN, Southend win, AFC Wimbledon win, but Argyle win by 11 goals more than Southend

or

They WIN by 11 goals, Southend win, AFC Wimbledon win and Wycombe lose

ARGYLE will start next season in Sky Bet League Two if…

They LOSE

or

They DRAW and Southend avoid defeat

or

They DRAW, Southend lose and Walsall win

or

They WIN by fewer than four goals, Southend win and AFC Wimbledon avoid defeat

or

They WIN, Southend win and AFC Wimbledon win
