Double Dose of Swindon

DOUBLE scorer Will Aimson has welcomed Argyle’s double dose of Swindon Town this week.

Will, who netted twice in the Pilgrims’ 2-2 home draw with Scunthorpe United on Saturday, welcomes the two visits in a week to the County Ground as an opportunity to right the wrongs of an insipid display against the Iron that was typified by the visitors’ equaliser in stoppage time.

First up in Wiltshire is a Leasing.com Trophy game on Tuesday, followed by a Sky Bet League Two match four days later.

Speaking after Saturday’s match, Will said: “Everyone was absolutely gutted; we won’t lie – it’s a hard one to take.

“We weren’t at our best. So we will look at why and what we can do better, and put it right on Tuesday and Saturday.

“We can’t get too downhearted – we have got a game on Tuesday. We have got to look at what we can do better but it has got to be brushed under the carpet and we have got to be positive going into the next two games.

“It’s really frustrating. We’ve got to learn and we’ve got to learn quick. We can’t dwell on it – we’ve got a two-game week again, so we’ll digest it and then we move on.

“It’s great that we’ve got a game Tuesday, so that we can put it right and work on things.”

Around 2,300 of the Green Army will attend the League Two game, and Will thinks the players owe the supporters a response to the Scunthorpe draw.

He said: “I’ve seen the allocation that we’ve sold for the Saturday game and it’s unbelievable. We hear the crowd and we can really feel it, and it does spur us on massively – we almost feel that we let them down, so it’s a hard one and a tough one to take.

“We want to do what we can for the fans and for each other, as players. We ‘ll be sure to put everything we can back out on the pitch next Saturday and put it right.”
