Academy Medical Vacancies

Our proactive and forward-looking Academy has two exciting opportunities available to join the team at Home Park.

The Pilgrims' youth setup is on the lookout for a permanent Head of Academy Medical, as well as a consultant Lead Academy Doctor, on a six month contract.

The Head of Academy Medical will be responsible for the strategic implementation of the Academy’s assessment, treatment and rehabilitation programmes for all Academy players on a daily basis.

Knowledge and experience in providing Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation clinics as well as delivering workshops to players, parents and staff on health and medical programmes is essential. The successful candidate will also be expected to establish a comprehensive screening, recording and profiling process for all Academy players.

The consultant Lead Academy Doctor must be available for consultation once per week at the Academy (to be agreed) and also be available to assess and, if appropriate, undertake the treatment of any playing injuries suffered by an Academy player.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the First Team Head Physiotherapist, Academy Manager and Head of Academy Medical to provide sport and exercise medicine services and general medical expertise to Academy players aged 8-18.

Other duties will include approving the club’s Emergency Action Plans, contributing to the department CPD programme and providing advice to the medical staff, Academy players and their parents of a child’s fitness to attend training or fixtures in relation to ongoing illness or injury.

It is an exciting time to be joining the team at Home Park, with the club on its way to realising the ambition of becoming a financially sustainable Championship-level club in the coming years.

Plymouth Argyle Football Club has strong values, and any successful applicant must demonstrate those values through their behaviours.

The deadline for applications for both positions is midday on Friday, 29 January. Applications should be submitted by email to phil.stokes@pafc.co.uk, or by post, and should consist of a CV and a covering letter detailing how you meet the criteria for the role.
