Tom Purrington

Date of birth

Tom hails from Exeter, where he attends St James's School.

Tom, brother of Academy product Ben Purrington has spent the last eight years progressing through the Academy system at Plymouth Argyle since the age of nine.

Tom was first spotted by John James at a summer tournament in Newton St Cyres when playing for West Exe Youth U9s when only eight years old - playing up an age group.

Tom then joined the Exeter Development Centre (COE) before quickly progressing into the Academy at U9.

Throughout his time in the Academy Tom has often played up an age group; he showed his potential when representing the Club in the 2015-16 season Milk Cup visit to Northern Ireland.

He is very comfortable on the ball and displays a mature and calm approach to his game. Tom made a number of appearances at under-18 level during 2015-2016 season as a fifteen year old in the Youth Alliance and Merit League. Tom has featured regularly for the U18s and has also made his debut for the South West Peninsula team. He was involved in last season’s successful FA Youth Cup run overcoming Man City and Burnley and he also had exposure in Central League fixtures.
