ALONGSIDE Jose Baxter and Conor Grant, who he grew up with, Calum Dyson is the third Pilgrim squad member to have graduated from the Everton youth academy.
Having joined the Toffees at the age of six, striker Calum was handed his first professional contract in 2015, a year after helping the Goodison Park club to win the under-18 Premier League title. In his first professional season, Dyson enjoyed spells on-loan at Stockport County and Chester City.
During the 2016-17 campaign, Calum played in every group game of Everton under-23’s EFL Trophy, grabbing the opening goal in a 2-0 win over Bolton Wanderers. His form drew the attention of Sky Bet League Two side Grimsby Town, who moved to sign the forward on-loan.
Four goals in 16 appearances followed at Blundell Park, and Dyson was awarded The Mariners’ Young Player of the Year award, which led to the Pilgrims snapping Calum up on a free transfer upon his release from Everton.
