CENTRE-BACK Ryan came to Home Park in the summer after a compensation fee was agreed between Argyle and Morecambe, where he won two Player of the Season awards in 2016-17 voted for by supporters and fellow pros.
Edwards was 30 games into an impressive first season with Argyle when it had to be cut short because of a testicular cancer diagnosis.
Eddy beat the disease, getting the all-clear in April 2018, and diligently set about getting fit once again.
Born in Liverpool, Ryan began his career working his way up Blackburn Rovers’ youth system. In 2010, he started a two-year scholarship with Rovers and quickly became the captain of the squad which reached the final of the 2011-12 FA Youth Cup.
At the end of the season, Edwards joined League Two Rochdale on a six month loan, which saw him make his professional debut in the first round of the League Cup. He had other loan spells at Fleetwood Town, Chesterfield and Tranmere Rovers before moving to Morecambe on loan in 2013-14, making his debut as a centre-back against Northampton in a 1-1 draw.
After impressing at the Globe Arena, became a Shrimp on a permanent basis and went on to play 127 games for Morecambe, scoring three goals. He was offered a new contract for this season, but elected to become a Pilgrim instead.
