A left back from Kingsteighton, Ryan was scouted by John James, our former Recruitment Officer, playing for his local side Chelston Juniors FC as an eight-year-old in a tournament.

He joined the Plymouth Argyle Academy as an Under 9 in September 2008. He attended Teign School in Kingsteighton and has represented Torbay Schools at Under 14 and Under 15 level. 

Ryan likes to break forward and has the ability to produce crosses; he will al take on shooting opportunities. Ryan played a number of games for the 2013-14 Milk Cup Squad that reached the semi-finals against the Corinthians of Brazil. Ryan made three appearances for the Under 18s during the 2015-16 season’s successful South West Youth Alliance campaign. He also competed in men’s football with a number of Peninsula games along with appearances in the Merit League 1 fixtures.

He continued  showing a desire to get forward, providing an attacking threat for his team and was part of a successful FA Youth Cup team that overcame Man City and Burnley. Ryan continued to get the balance of Youth and men’s football during the season playing in Youth Alliance/Merit League and Peninsula fixtures as well as gaining exposure in some Central League fixtures. Derek Adams offered Ryan a one-year professional contract in summer 2018.
