DEREK Adams once again linked up with Miller in June 2016, signing a player who he had already played alongside and recruited before as a manager.

Indeed, Derek played a part in the right-back’s senior debut as a teenager for Livingston 11 years ago when the Pilgrims’ gaffer was subbed off for Miller in a 1-1 Scottish Premier league draw at Falkirk.

Gary, 30, signed for the Pilgrims after leaving Scottish Premiership Partick Thistle, linked up with Derek again when he was loaned to Ross County for the 2007-08 season and helped the Staggies win the the Scottish Second Division. Derek then signed Gary for County on a permanent deal in 2009 and the pair enjoyed three successful years together, winning promotion to the top flight and the Challenge Cup, and reaching the Scottish FA Cup final.

After more than 100 games over three seasons, Gary moved to St Johnstone and helped the Perth side win the first major trophy in their 130-year history after a 2-0 Scottish FA Cup win over Dundee United, in which when former Argyle player Steve MacLean scored. After three years at McDiarmid Park, Gary moved back to his native Glasgow to join Partick Thistle, for whom he played 24 times.

Well past the 200-mark for career games, Miller brought experience and solidity to Argyle’s defensive ranks last season, making 34 appearances for the club.
